About the Department

Environmental Science is taught as a compulsory subject in Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya and still remains so. Under the CBCS system, Environmental Science has been introduced for the Semester II students as a compulsory subject. They have to cover 100 marks including 30 marks of field work for the examination. Environmental science is a multidisciplinary science whose basic aspects have a direct relevance to every section and aspect of the society. It helps in creating an awareness of the current environmental problems through the knowledge of physical, chemical, biological and social processes. The students gain skills to analyse the various environmental systems and the effect of human activities on them. It provides knowledge about development and utilisation of energy resources and importance of environmental stability in the contemporary culture. The students will realize the significance of natural resources and learn to develop solutions to pressing environmental problems. This department is engaged in imparting the above for development of the society.
