About The Department

Two-year B.Sc. course in Pure Science was introduced in 1986-87 session under the Vidyasagar University. To maintain uniformity with the pattern prescribed by UGC, three-year general degree course was introduced in 1999-2000. To meet the need of the locality with growing population due to industrial development of Haldia, three-year honours degree course in Physics was introduced in 2005-2006 session, although affiliation of Vidyasagar University was received from 2004-05 as a self-financing course. At present three-year general and honours courses under CBCS system and four-year major courses under NEP for are going simultaneously. The department is enriched with two full time teachers in the sanctioned post, three teachers as SACT and one full time laboratory attendant. Apart from the traditional chalk and talk method, LCD-Projector have been introduced. The department has well equipped laboratory for General, GE and core courses. The department have its own library facilities and major instruments to cater to the affiliating university practical syllabi.
