About the Department
Vivekananda Mission Mahavidyalaya was established on 9th August, 1968 having Political Science as one of the pass subjects. On and from 1970-1971 academic session, the institution got permission to teach the subject as an Honours courses in the undergraduate level. The department is enriched with three teachers in the sanctioned post and three SACT teachers. The department is always in favour of adopting student’s friendly teaching learning methods. Apart from the traditional chalk and talk method, student’s participation is encouraged in interactive sessions, group discussions, tutorial classes for the slow learners etc. Classes are also held in the smart rooms available in the college to make use of the updated ICT teaching-learning methods. The department publishes wall magazine (both in online and offline modes). Apart from the regular syllabi, students are also encouraged to take part in Youth Parliament competitions, various NSS activities, cultural activities, inter- college sports competitions etc. In the recent times, the department has started conducting an induction programme for the newcomers to give them an overall orientation about the college, it’s available infrastructure, the department and its various activities. We have also “Mentor-Mentee” group by which students can share their personal problems, get assistance for higher education and research etc.
